If you look at the sidebar of this blog you’ll see a new link that says ‘All Boomer Blogs’. Click the plus sign and you’ll see a huge list of available blogs by people in our age group. This is a centralized listing created by the people at bloggerover50 and its a great resource.

I don’t know how many blogs are listed, but I’ve just finished looking at them all and there are a lot! Out of the whole list, I found five that I want to go back to, so they’ve been added to google reader.

Needless to say, there’s nothing wrong with the other blogs. The cool thing about the blogosphere is that there is something available to match any taste. Even if I didn’t click with any given blog, somewhere out there is someone who will. By the same token, a lot of people won’t like my voice, but some will, and that’s good enough. This abundance of choice is one of the coolest things about cyberspace. It gives us the freedom not to partake of something without in any way disparaging the person who offered it.

I was delighted to find a few Canadian blogs, even a couple put up by neighbors in the lower mainland. Hi, guys!!

Quick note for any readers who want the list of blogs added to their blog: The people at bloggerover50 had instructions on their site for adding the drop-down list, which involved going out to froogle and copying some javascript code. Those instructions were primarilly for blogs hosted at blogger. I couldn’t make them work on my wordpress blog. So, I had to put on my javascript coder beanie and figure out how to do it myself. The answer is really simple. If anybody needs to do this on their blog, get in touch via email or comment and I’ll be happy to share.

Hi Glen, I can't say welcome to the blogosphere since this is your second blog. Thanks for leaving a comment. As you know I am off for a few days but will look around here further when I get back. It looks rather interesting. Incidentally we had a home computer in the early 80's, a Northstar Horizon with no hard drive. Plus my husband was a chemistry professor at UBC so we had email from the beginning, but dial-up did not exist for ages so it was done at UBC.

I'm another old fart, female, and I would be in the Blogger over 70 group if it existed. Retired from hospital pharmacy for almost ten years now, but blogging for 18 months. Very interesting but so time consuming. I have learned a lot of tech stuff myself over that time, asking various people for help if I could not figure out how to do it myself and everyone has been so helpful. You are lucky in that you know how to do all that stuff.

My email signature contains "Putting a lie to you can't teach an old dog new tricks". And my avatar is a photo of my gone but not forgotten Westie.

    I'll be back.
    regards

  • I want to use a feeder too ... so I can easily visit fellow bloggers. But I am so impaired at taking IT instruction. SOS!

Presumptuous me hopes ode2old is one of the five. :)
