<< Insights  John Caspell - RIP >>

Back in September when the bail-out was first announced I published a post(Bail,Bail,Bail) equating the cost of the war in Iraq with the amount being pumped into the financial sector. I also posted an article (Tote that bale) detailing some of the costs of the fighting. A very good article was posted today on Tomdispatch which details how much money could be made available to the economy by shutting down some of the pentagon’s activities. Highly recommended.

  • No one denies the military is expensive, but not as much so as our income transfer social programs. I'd like to eliminate the Department of Education, for starters, then get to work on the USDA food subsidies which include free lunches in the summer and mortgages.

We waste billions and trillions through these programs' salaries, and just a smidgen gets to the poeple who need it.
